After building a house, one of the biggest investments is buying furniture. Sofa is one of the furniture’s that takes up a lot of space and costs money and it is one of the places where the whole family spends a lot of time.

A sofa should be chosen depending on the purpose that it would serve. One should decide if it would be used mainly for TV watching or formal entertaining. Sofa is one of the biggest investments and lasts long. Hence a decent amount should be invested in its purchase.

While purchasing a sofa one should check whether the back of the sofa is hollow. A hollow back indicates poor construction. It should preferably be padded.

It is also important to take measurements before purchasing a sofa. One should make sure that it fits in the desired place and also that it can pass through the doorways, around the corners and stairs if any.

There are different sofa styles like Tuxedo sofa which has high arms, Lawson sofa which has medium arms, Bridgewater sofa which has low arms and Slipper which has no arms. They also come in different shapes like curvy, straight, round or streamlined. One can choose a sofa with a single long cushion or several ones.

An appropriate fabric should be used to cover the furniture. If there are kids or pets at home it is recommended to use fabric that can be easily cleaned or would hide stains and dirt.

With the rising Kochi real estate prices, building a house in Kochi is a big investment in itself. Buying furniture and further beautifying the house is yet another investment. Hence it is very important to be cautious while purchasing furniture.
