Luke 5:10 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: 10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.
MESSAGE
When He Jesus had finished speaking, He said to Simon Peter, ‘Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.’ Simon answered and said, ‘Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but at Your word, I will let down the nets.’ When they had done this, they enclosed a great quantity of fish, and their nets began to break”
The word of God is also the deepest ,deeper than the deep sea which hides great treasures. and wonderful things. The word of God hides in its depth the most glorious secrets ,vast treasures, the depths of the Holy Scriptures are treasures infinitely richer than any which the world contains. All the wealth of redemption is hidden there. There are promises there, and title-deeds to most glorious inheritances, and crowns brighter than any that ever rested on the brow of earthly king, and gem and jewels more brilliant than any that were ever worn in this world. In the depths of Holy Scripture lie all the riches of God’s love and all the treasures of divine knowledge.
Proverb 8: 17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.18 Riches and honour [are] with me; [yea], durable riches and righteousness.19 My fruit [is] better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:21 That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
Launching in the deep is about going places with Jesus, our spiritual partner. You will not sink or drown because He is with you and is very much in control. Jesus wanted them to join Him in His world wide mission of winning the lost. That was the only deal in town,Our primary calling is to win souls. At the heart of this storey, launching into the deep is about ‘CATCHING MEN’’! The miracle of the catch was a by show. The real deal was winning souls and God wants us to win souls - to catch men whatever your vocation may be you are called to win souls. You cannot be a successful soulwinner if you do not love God and people. We win souls by loving people, and by sympathizing with their sorrow, by letting them know that God care about them, and that we do not want them to go to hell. Don't be afraid. He will be with you in JESUS NAME.
There are 3 lessons we can learn from this event:
1. Trying hard doesn't necessarily get the job done: Peter and his colleagues had “worked hard all night,” so no one can doubt their efforts. They simply were too shallow, and all the efforts in the world wouldn't have gotten them the catch they were hoping for.
2. The deeper life is the key to the abundant life: Remember the parable of the wise and foolish builders? Both built a house, but when the storms came, only the wise man's house was still standing. Why? Because, as Jesus said, he “dug deep and laid his foundation upon the rock.”
3. Doing things God's way, no matter how uncomfortable or unusual, will result in the greatest blessings: Think about Naaman in 2 Kings 5. He wanted to be healed of his leprosy, but was reluctant to follow the words of the prophet, because he preferred not to go and dip in the muddy Jordan River. It was only when he humbled himself that he got healed. Jesus Himself had to have this attitude in the Garden of Gethsemane, as He prayed “Father if you are willing, you can make this cup pass from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but thine be done.” Peter was a professional fisherman, yet his willingness to “let down the net” (i.e., let down his pride) was what allowed him to obtain a great catch.
Finally Beloved,There is no greater thrill than leading souls to Christ."He that winneth souls is wise." Let me tell you from first hand experience that the greatest work in the world is winning souls. It takes wisdom to win souls but God gives us the wisdom. Also, always remember that prayer is important if souls are to be won to Christ. Pray before going out to win Souls. JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.AMEN
