After much deliberations and consultations with well calculated effort to produce a consensus candidate for the north, the 17 sub-committee led by Mallam Adamu Ciroma few days ago emerged with the awaiting political gladiator, in the person of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to battle against Dr. Goodluck  Jonathan at the PDP presidential primary. The consensus saga is no more an optical illusion. The committee has completed the herculean task which the Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF) assigned to them, and they deserve to be praised.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, who saw his ex-boss some weeks ago as the problem the country harbours, was found eligible among the four aspirants. Though we can’t really point to the criteria being used for the selection, the committee has deemed it fit to come out with Atiku as the northern messiah that would take them to the promise land. It is time for the outshined aspirants to fulfill the agreement they jointly signed to stand by whoever emerge. Every Arthur has its Merlin. The Messiah needs disciples to support and stand by him as the primaries draw closer. We just hope the purpose for producing a consensus candidate among the four aspirants will become a reality. Only time will tell what the primaries hold.
