As Nigerians await the consensus candidate and the political messiah from the North, we still have to take a critical look at the activities of the Ciroma-led committee, charged with the responsibility of producing a consensus candidate among the northern PDP presidential aspirants.
Much has been said and done, tactics and strategies have been deployed, elder statesmen and kings have been consulted, Nigerians have been kept waiting, but the committee is yet to produce the awaiting Obama.
The issue in question now, is the criteria to be used for the selection. The committee made it known that the selected person must come from core North. This assertion rules out the possibility for the emergence of a northern minority candidate. The question arises as to whether or not the northern minority groups are not northerners. What is the difference between the right ear of a horse and the left ear of that same horse?  Since providence will not make it possible for anybody to ‘zone out’ the south, must the committee engage in zoning before they pick a credible consensus candidate? One can at this point doubt the sincerity and reliability of the Ciroma-led committee in producing a credible consensus candidate for the north, that can withstand the candidature of Dr. Goodluck  Ebele Jonathan. This is not supposed to be a surprise to Nigerians because zoning has always been what the NPLF has been fighting for. If marginalization and segregation is what zoning entails, then zoning is fraud.
This obnoxious decision is a frantic manoeuvre to ease out Dr.Bukola Saraki from the race. As for him, my advice is that he should re-discover his identity. The monkey and gorilla may claim oneness, but the monkey is monkey and the gorilla, gorilla. His name is strictly Bukola and nothing but Bukola. It is advisable for him to look beyond the consensus scam and focus on his presidential ambition.of producing a consensus candidate among the northern PDP presidential aspirants.
