The battle for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket has moved to the House of Representatives.
Following the leakage of the report of the House’s Committee on Electoral Matters conceding that ministers and presidential aides should be delegates for presidential primaries, former President Ibrahim Babangida, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Kwara State Governor Bukola Saraki have launched a counter-move.
The presidential aspirants want President Goodluck Jonathan’s proposal on order of elections and how the primaries will be organised reversed.
They are also querying why the President is insisting that presidential primaries should hold before gubernatorial primaries.
They want the order of primaries to be in line with the order of elections as contained in Section 25 of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.
