The wait is over and the coast is now clear for the conduct of next year’s general election in January 2011 with the signing into law of the Electoral Bill by President Goodluck Jonathan.

At the short ceremony yesterday witnessed by Vice President Namadi Sambo and Speaker of the House of Representatives Dimeji Bankole, Jonathan described the process leading to the passage of the bill by the National Assembly as a test of the nation’s emerging democratic maturity.

He said it was a proof that the system is capable of correcting itself.

Jonathan also said his commitment to free and fair election was based on his belief that unless the right of the people to decide who governs them is enforced and protected, politicians and government officials will not be persuaded to act at all times for the common good.
Let's wait and see the outcome of the coming election,  though we pray to be the most free and fair.
