I ‘m not a atheist to have imagined this but after series of questioning myself I decided to ask people about what they think about when God is late? But all I get most of the time is God can never be late. These are few quotes; I got from some friends on phone, one on one discussion, Facebook, Naijavoice, Twitter, Nairaland and other social network sites.
• God can never been late because he does things base on His timing.
• We sometimes assume He is late because we are impatient.
• God is never late but can be slow, He knows best.
• Are you serious at all how dare you say such a thing about God, He is ever faithful has he said a thing that he never fulfilled, He had made a promise that His word would never return to him void until it completes that which it was spoken to do.
• He does things by his timing and not by our timing even the Lord’s Prayer agrees to this and I quote “Let thy will be done” even when we ask for things and we don’t get it. He is still not late.
• Many times we ask God for what might hurt or ruin us but as a faithful and loving Father. He wouldn’t grant our wish because of the damage it would have on us thereby we may think He is late or have forsaking us.
• He is never late but even as we wouldn’t admit it physical or with our mouth most of the time we think, He is late by saying certain words like Why me? Why not me? I have prayed and fasted why is God not answering? We could go on and on to think about such things we often say but in the long run. He trying to mode us like the clay in hands of the potter.
• We loose focus.
• God is never late; we are all just a bunch of impatient products which is trying to dictate what and what he wants from his manufacturer.
• Hmm!! Is God late? Can He be late? When has he been late? No, God can never been late even if we try all the tricks to make him late he can never be.
I do agree with all response that God can never be late. Am not trying to play religion here but am trying to make us think through because we all believe in a supreme being even if we don’t agree to a particular name (God, Buddha, Allah and so on), so therefore I would take some stories from the Holy writ and make us compare analytically.
Story 1
A young called Daniel was taken away in captivity to a strange land called Babylon where we was trained he read all could, devoted all his life to serving God, many times he was summon to give insight into matters of the strange land he was ten times better than all wise men, astrologers, enchanters, magicians in that land but at a certain time it was recorded that he was taken into a lion’s den but he was not harmed and at another he was unable to get answers to a prayer he made, not because he was unholy at that time but because the prince Persia didn’t allow the angel to get to him on time.
Question 1:
Why did God allow him to be taken to lion’s den?
Story 2
This is also a story of another seventeen year old young man in the land of Canaan he was a descendant of Jacob, he was so loved by his father but he was not loved by his brothers because he had a dream and had a coat of many colours not long after was he sold into slavery but even as a slave he was favoured until is owner’s wife lied against him and was taken into prison where he met the king’s cup bearer and baker were he told them what would happen to them period afterwards it came to past that the cup bearer was restored while the bread maker was killed but after two years the king had a dream and needed someone to interpret it then the cup bearer remembered a promise he made to Joseph while he was in prison he told the king about him then the king summoned for Joseph who interpreted the dream and became the prime minister at the age of thirty.
Question 2:
Why did it take Joseph thirteen years to become what he dreamt he would be?
Story 3
This is a story about a persecutor (Saul later called Paul) of the early church after the death and resurrection of Christ, on his way to Damascus on his mission to persecute more followers of Christ he met with a light from heaven which suddenly shone down around him then he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me? Moments later he was blind but instructed in a vision to do certain things he did and got his sight back but after the encounter he began to preach the gospel of Christ to the gentiles and never persecuted the church again.
Question 3:
Why did God allow Paul to persecute the church?
Story 4
This is story about a godly man who endured an enormous amount of suffering while remaining faithful to God. The story begins with Job loosing his children, his many possessions, and even his own health, all within a very short period of time. Only Job’s wife escaped the ruin that Satan inflicted upon him, then his three friends came to comfort him and to reflect on the purpose for his suffering. They each considered the basic question: Why must we endure suffering when God is powerful enough to do something about it? Job’s wife simply declared it all unfair, advising Job to curse God and die. But Job remained faithful and was later restored…
Question 4:
Job was flawless but why did God allow him to be afflicted by the devil?
From countless stories in the scriptures we would see that God is never late but we ourselves assume He is late or has forsaking us. These are few things that happen when we assumes He is late:
1. We become impatient
2. We seek other alternatives which may seem good against God’s plan
3. We seek after other gods like mammon etc or conclude that there is no God
4. We forget about our sonship and give in to the devil as a result we become play tool
5. We act on a reprobate mind thereby losing our vision or purpose
6. We become hopeless
7. We no longer commune with God, thereby admitting that there is no God
8. We become a plague on ourselves
9. We loose our authority over the devil
10. We loose peace, comfort and happiness
But this few things happen when we understand and believe that God is never late but can be slow though because He does things at His time.
1. You become patience which works your endurance
2. You become hopeful even during the trials
3. You become joyful even when there is nothing to be joyous about
4. You become excellence and work with an excellence spirit
5. You become a testimony, a problem solver
6. You become a lover of God as well as men
7. You be at peace with your friends as well as foes
8. You get the crown for over coming the temptation of your desires
9. You increase in faith
10. You become trained, reformed and a teacher of such experiences.
I would strongly advise for you to take time ponder over this and not just read through and forget the essence of which it was written, this note was written with sole purpose of making known that God can never be late but we human only assume he is and even as we do we should fight back by not admitting to it because it’s a medium the devil is trying to use to get us away from the heavenly track but his will for your life has been destroyed through Christ Jesus.
Thanks for reading this do share with friends and we love to receive comments, corrections, and other valuables words that could be added. Thanks again.
THE END
